Food and Agribusiness Innovation Management Major, BS


This program will help students understand how the principles of economics, management, and marketing apply to food and agricultural systems. Also, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to develop and/or manage transformative innovations that can help build sustainable, equitable, and inclusive agri-food systems. 

Admission Requirements
Students can apply to the Food and Agribusiness Innovation Management program as part of their application to CWU, via their MyCWU account, or by emailing CBAdvising@cwu.edu and will be approved for entry to the program once they have completed the College of Business Agreement to Policies.

Graduation Requirements
Earn at least 45 credits at CWU and meet all CWU graduation requirements, including grade point average requirements that apply to all CWU major programs

  • Students who enter Central Washington University with 45 or fewer credits must complete UNIV 101 Student Success Seminar. Students must enroll in UNIV 101 during their first quarter at CWU.
  • Complete at least 30 credits of coursework applied to the degree at CWU, including AGB 361, AGB 380, ECON 320, AGB 330, AGB/ENTP 420, and AGB 489.

Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 in all coursework applied to the degree.

Specific elective options may have different prerequisites or minimum grades required. Students should carefully review the prerequisites for the elective options they would like to take.

Program Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Use knowledge about the unique marketing, management, economic, and policy issues, as they relate to the food and agricultural sectors.
  • Utilize soft skills and techniques in the food and agribusiness field, to allow for successful communication of ideas and concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Apply principles of marketing, economics, financial accounting, and entrepreneurship to solve problems in the food and agriculture industries with creativity and innovation.
  • Identify the role that innovations, by agri-food value chain actors, play in building sustainable, equitable, and inclusive agri-food systems.
  • Develop entrepreneurial, innovation, marketing, and management competencies for careers in food- and agribusiness through projects and/or professional development activities.
