Mathematics: Middle-level Math Minor

The middle-level math minor offers additional preparation for the teaching of elementary mathematics and prepares students to pass the Washington state Middle-Grades Mathematics test (NES 203). Successfully passing NES 203 allows students to add a test-only endorsement in middle-level mathematics upon graduating. This minor is not open to students majoring in Mathematics: Middle-Level Teaching.
Graduation Requirements
Plan GPA of 2.25. No grade lower than a C in any course applied to the minor.
Program Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills;
- Explain the developmental progression of mathematical learning in elementary and middle grades; and
- Apply mathematical knowledge, concepts, theories, models, and skills to solve problems.
