Anthropology Major, BA (62 Credits)

Anthropology offers a unique and multidisciplinary perspectives on human and nonhuman societies and cultures across time and space. It includes archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, linguistics, and their subfields. The 62-credit BA degree prepares students for anthropology-related careers, graduate school, and any vocation that benefits from a deeper understanding of the human experience.

Anthropology Program Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to: - Define concepts basic to the anthropological study of humans, such as culture, cultural variability, evolutionary change, ethnocentrism, cultural relativism, and holism.
- Identify the goals, main subject areas and distinctive characteristics of each sub-field.
- Recognize the range and variety of biological, cultural, and bio-cultural adaptations past and present.
- Classify the symbolic and communicative capacities of humans expressed through culture.
- Identify and describe appropriate research methods and techniques for the 4 sub-fields of anthropology.
- Use anthropological literature and appropriate information technology.
- Articulate the ethics of the discipline as they relate to hypothetical scenarios.
