Engineering Technology and Management, MS Core

The Department of Engineering Technologies, Safety, and Construction (ETSC) offers an online Master of Science degree in engineering technology and management (MS-ETM) with two specializations: engineering technology and construction management. The Master of Science program prepares students and professionals for career advancement. It develops technical skills and management competencies for tackling strategic initiatives and creating more value in a project or an organization. Prospective students should hold a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering technologies, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, construction management, or similar degrees. The core curriculum addresses technological challenges, leadership development, risk management, and organizational performance management. Each of the two specializations consists of three courses with additional studies on professional development, corporate issues, or applied research. The elective courses in the specializations will build upon students’ current technical capabilities or develop skills in a new area that complements their career objectives.

Admission Requirements
Incoming students are expected to meet all the School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) requirements at Central Washington University. This program does not require a GRE. International students have additional requirements that may be found on the SGSR website.

Graduation Requirements
Students must complete a minimum of 45 credits, including core courses, three courses in a specialization, and the ETSC 700 Master’s Thesis, Project Study and/or Examination.

Any graduate student in a master’s program whose cumulative grade point average falls below 3.0 at the end of any quarter will be placed on academic probation for the next academic quarter. While on probation, a student may not hold a graduate assistantship or a nonresident tuition waiver fellowship. If, after one quarter of probation, the student fails to raise their cumulative grade point average to 3.0 or above, the student will be withdrawn from the university. Students may not receive a master’s degree if their cumulative grade point average is below 3.0. The cumulative grade point average is calculated using all courses taken after admission into a graduate program, whether part of the approved course of study or not. Grades for all courses included on the course of study must average at least 3.0 (B). Credit will not be accepted for courses on the course of study in which a grade lower than “C” is earned.
