Mathematics: Elementary Math Minor

The Elementary Math Minor offers additional preparation for the teaching of elementary mathematics and prepares students to pass the Washington state Middle-Grades Mathematics test (NES 203). Successfully passing NES 203 allows students to add a test-only endorsement in middle-level mathematics upon graduating. This minor is not open to students majoring in Mathematics: Middle-Level Teaching.

Program Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

• demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills;
• explain the developmental progression of mathematical learning in elementary and middle grades; and
• apply mathematical knowledge, concepts, theories, models, and skills to solve problems.
