Admission to the Major and to the Minor
- To be admitted to the major, students must complete the Law and Justice application form and the department must approve.
Exit Requirements
A minimum grade of C- must be earned in all courses used to fulfill the requirements of the major and of the minor.
Program Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- identify key historical developments within the criminal justice system and explain the implications for contemporary criminal justice issues or practice;
- identify and apply relevant theory (criminal justice, criminological, legal) to a current legal, criminal, or social phenomenon;
- identify key legal and social research methodologies and justify their use to explain social phenomenon;
- develop an informed opinion about critical issues within the field that are informed by contemporary frameworks such as evidence based policies and practices or social justice; and
- develop appropriate communication skills for working within applicable social and legal systems.

Must include 36 credits of approved electives from the following. Only 8 of the 36 credits may count from lower division Law and Justice (LAJ) courses (102, 202, 203, 210, 215, 216).
