Economics BS, General Economics Specialization

General economics students learn to think creatively and deeply about important economic issues facing the world today. Students apply a variety of theoretical and empirical perspectives to issues of economic efficiency, economic growth, international trade, public policy, environment, and social justice. Economics teaches valuable critical thinking skills and problem-solving techniques that are highly valued in all aspects of business and in government. This specialization provides a great preparation for economics and public policy graduate programs, and law school.

Economics Foundation

Positions of responsibility in today’s world are usually held by individuals who have the capacity to analyze complex problems and make intelligent decisions. Learning economics will help students think logically and improve their ability to use economic concepts to analyze “real-world” problems and opportunities. In addition to preparation for business and government agency employment, an economics major is an excellent preparation for law schools, Master of Business Administration programs, and graduate programs in economics, agricultural economics, and natural resource management.

Admission Requirements
Students can apply to the major as part of their application to CWU, via their MyCWU account, or by emailing CBAdvising@cwu.edu and will be approved for entry to the major once they have completed the college of business agreement to policies.

Requirements for Progression and/or Graduation

To graduate with a degree in economics, students must:
