Economics Foundation
Positions of responsibility in today’s world are usually held by individuals who have the capacity to analyze complex problems and make intelligent decisions. Learning economics will help students think logically and improve their ability to use economic concepts to analyze “real-world” problems and opportunities. In addition to preparation for business and government agency employment, an economics major is an excellent preparation for law schools, Master of Business Administration programs, and graduate programs in economics, agricultural economics, and natural resource management.
Admission Requirements
Students can apply to the major as part of their application to CWU, via their MyCWU account, or by emailing CBAdvising@cwu.edu and will be approved for entry to the major once they have completed the college of business agreement to policies.
Requirements for Progression and/or Graduation
To graduate with a degree in economics, students must:
- Earn at least 45 credits at CWU and meet all CWU graduation requirements, including grade point average requirements that apply to all CWU major programs.
- Complete at least 45 credits of coursework applied toward the economics major at CWU.
- Earn at least a 2.25 GPA in all classes applied toward major requirements, with nothing less than a C- (1.7) in any individual course.
When selecting a statistics (BUS 221 or MATH 211) option, students are strongly encouraged to select BUS 221 unless transferring a course to meet the requirement.
