The Office of Continuing Education provides lifelong learning opportunities in support of the university mission. CE offers four categories of courses, professional development, personal enrichment, professional development for educators, and youth programs. They are offered in a variety of non-credit courses, Professional Development Credit (PDCs) courses, Washington State Clock Hour courses, and Continuing Education Credit (CEUs) courses.

Please NOTE:

- All Continuing Education courses, certificates, and services are offered on a self-support basis, and may be canceled if adequate enrollment is not reached. If the minimum enrollment of a course is not met 3 days prior to the first day of class, CWU Continuing Education may cancel the course at its discretion. Participants will be notified at this time.

If the course or program is cancelled, a full refund will be issued.

Professional Development Courses

LSAT Prep Course - Non-credit

In this course students learn practical skills to help them succeed and earn an LSAT score that will make them competitive at the nation’s top law schools. They will train with a CWU Professor and practicing lawyer who knows how difficult the LSAT can be, and how to do well on it. This course will teach students basic study and test-taking skills, as well as help them prepare for success in logical reasoning, logic games/analytical reasoning, reading comprehension, and the writing sample. After completion of this course, students will be ready to successfully take the LSAT exam.

Wildcat Community ESL

The Wildcat ESL class provides English language classes for individuals who want to improve their English language knowledge and skills. Students at any language level are welcome and they can expect a wide variety of activities that will help them meet their language goals.

Coding Bootcamps offered in partnership with Promineo Tech

The Office of Continuing Education in partnership with Promineo Tech offers three specializes bootcamps, Front End Coding, Back End Coding, and Big Data Engineering. These three separate bootcamps allows students to spend more time mastering their selected track and becoming strong candidates for a role in development. Bootcamp students will learn high demand skills to prepare them for high-growth careers in software development.

Online career training certification courses in partnership with ed2go

The Office of Continuing Education, in partnership with ed2go, offers fully online, open enrollment career training courses. These courses are designed to provide students the necessary skills they need to acquire professional level positions for many in-demand occupations.

Students can enroll in the career training courses at any time, and they can be taken at a pace that suits the student’s individual needs. Students will have access to all the lessons and assignments from day one. Instructors are actively involved in the online learning experience. They respond to questions and concerns, as well as encourage and motivate the student to succeed.

Upon completing a career training course with a passing score, students will receive a certificate of completion. These courses are also eligible to receive funding assistance from the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). For a list of approved courses, visit the Washington Career Bridge website at www.careerbridge.wa.gov and search the Eligible Training Provider List for online programs at Central Washington University, Ellensburg, Wa.

Professional Development Courses for Educators

VESi (Virtual Education Software)

The Office of Continuing Education in partnership with VESi (Virtual Education Software) offers numerous online professional development classes available year-round. Course topics are timely, taught by experienced instructors, and offer PK-12 teachers convenient, affordable options for professional development credits (500 level) credit or Washington State clock hours. Teachers have one year from the course start date to complete their course. Course topics include classroom management, special education, inclusion, trauma, diversity, autism spectrum disorder, and more.

Various professional development offerings for educators

The Office of Continuing Education partners with various organizations and individuals to offer professional development opportunities for educators. These face to face, online, or hybrid courses are designed to help educators satisfy their professional development requirements. Upon completion of each seminar, course, or workshop, Washington State Clock Hours or professional development credits (PDC’s) may be issued. Professional development classes are available each quarter. Course topics are timely, taught by experienced instructors, and offer PK-12 teachers convenient, affordable options for professional development (500) credit or clock hours. Course topics include classroom management, special education, DEI, health and safety management, teaching strategies, STEM, technology in schools, and more.

Youth Programs

The Office of Continuing Education at CWU offers educational summer day camps offered at the CWU-Sammamish Campus in collaboration with CWU-Sammamish. The day camps have featured themes such as Explore Forensics and Wetland Wonders which provide educational day camp opportunities for the communities surrounding the CWU-Sammamish Campus.
