BS-IT Management Program Overview

The IT Management curriculum, designed by subject matter experts with guidance from industry professionals, addresses the current demand for tech-savvy individuals who are also able to effectively lead and motivate teams, manage projects, and integrate technological solutions. Students completing this major will take a core set of courses and select at least one of the specialization areas.

BS-IT Management Program Admission Requirements

Students are encouraged to apply for their IT Management major early in their university studies, even as soon as their first quarter. Once enrolled in the program students will begin working with a knowledgeable IT Management advisor to design their academic course of study at CWU and make sure they are fulfilling all of the requirements for successful degree completion. BS-IT Management Graduation Requirements

The following requirements apply to students seeking the BS-IT Management degree:

Students must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 in the major coursework to be eligible for the degree.

Students must earn a minimum grade of C- in each course.

Course Fees
Most IT Management courses that use hardware and software resources are assessed a course fee of $25, depending on the required technology.

Students seeking the BS-IT Management take a common set of core courses covering relevant and current human-centered skills in management, leadership, project management, sustainable decision making, business communications, financial management, ethics, and CRM as well as hard skills in data analytics, database management, digital systems, and computer applications. Additionally, students complete at least one specialization within the degree:

  1. Administrative Management Specialization
  2. Cybersecurity Specialization
  3. Data Driven Innovation for IT Managers Specialization
  4. Information Technology Specialization
  5. Project Management Specialization

BAS-IT Management Program Overview

Providing students with leadership, problem-solving, and critical analysis skills is the primary purpose of the IT Management-BAS degree. Students learn to excel in managing people, projects, and technology. A curriculum rich in communication skills, the program complements any professional/technical degree with timely and relevant skills to qualify students for leadership roles in their technical area.

BAS-IT Management Program Admission Requirements

Applicants for the BAS-IT Management must meet the following admission requirements before admittance to the program:

  • Completion of an applied or technical degree with at least 40 credits in an applied/technical area from a community college or technical college.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.3.
  • A world language is not required.

BAS-IT Management Graduation Requirements

  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.3.
  • Completion of CWU General Education Requirements.
  • Completion of the BAS-IT Management core requirement courses and one of the specializations with a minimum grade of C- in each course.

IT Management Minors or Certificates

Each of our minors will complement any major field, helping CWU students stand out from the crowd and be competitive in today’s job market. Applied, relevant skill sets develop individuals ready to handle the challenges of modern global industry. For individuals who do not have the time for a full major program, the IT Management certificate options provide a pathway for busy professionals to expand their credentials and advance their career. Such recognition will benefit students in gaining professional employment or advancing in their current professional positions.
