COTS 152 - Applied Problem Solving in STEM I


Description:
On-ramp to STEM majors. Applications of co-curricular MATH 152 concepts in STEM fields. Introduction to resources for STEM majors. By department permission.

Prerequisites:
Co-requisite: MATH 152.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • translate problems and results between STEM contexts and mathematical and algebraic representations,
  • employ multiple forms of mathematical representations for linear and quadratic functions, including graphs, tables, and equations to solve problems in STEM contexts,
  • use mathematical reasoning in STEM contexts, and, specifically, select problem solving strategies, execute solutions, and draw conclusions, and
  • identify resources that support and reinforce student academic success in the STEM disciplines.
