YESS 102 - Social Science Community Engagement Description: In this second course, students will learn about social issues in the community and explore the application of social science to those issues through readings, discussions, fieldwork, and community outreach. By department permission.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: YESS 101.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze the social, cultural, economic and political forces affecting key social issues in the Kittitas Valley or other region.
- Compare the perspectives of social groups in the Kittitas Valley or other region on key social issues.
- Contrast the experiences and meanings of citizenship for social groups in the Kittitas Valley or other region.
- Prepare a small group oral presentation about how the historical development of the Kittitas Valley or other region has affected the meaning and experience of some community or regional problem.
- Propose a (partial) solution to a community or regional problem (e.g., environmental justice).
