WINE 492 - Field Experience Description: Students spend 1-3 weeks in an established wine region, exploring appellations, wineries, viticulture, enology, wine styles, and marketing. Destinations may include domestic wine regions, including the Pacific Northwest, as well as international locations. Permission by instructor required. May be repeated for up to 8 credits.
Credits: (4) Contact Hours: 40 hours per credit
Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Assess an established wine area, whether international or domestic.
- Compare and contrast wine production techniques specific to the region of study, whether international or domestic.
- Analyze the wine market dynamics and governmental regulations specific to the region of study, whether international or domestic.
- Identify and evaluate wine styles and sensory profiles associated with the area of study, encompassing both international and domestic contexts.
