IT 684 - Approaches to Data Mining for IT Managers


Description:
This course surveys a variety of data mining techniques used in the information technology field.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: ADMG 501 or admission to an IT Management Department Graduate Certificate Program.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 

  • evaluate a variety of data mining techniques used in the information technology field,
  • evaluate models and algorithms in relation to data mining techniques,
  • determine the value of data mining in solving problems related to an organization’s strategy and/or operations,
  • apply algorithms to the process of data mining,
  • assess the role of machine learning in data mining, and
  • evaluate visualization techniques used in data mining in terms of their ability to support decision-making.
