IT 684 - Approaches to Data Mining for IT Managers Description: This course surveys a variety of data mining techniques used in the information technology field.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: ADMG 501 or admission to an IT Management Department Graduate Certificate Program.
Credits: (4) Contact Hours: 4
Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- evaluate a variety of data mining techniques used in the information technology field,
- evaluate models and algorithms in relation to data mining techniques,
- determine the value of data mining in solving problems related to an organization’s strategy and/or operations,
- apply algorithms to the process of data mining,
- assess the role of machine learning in data mining, and
- evaluate visualization techniques used in data mining in terms of their ability to support decision-making.
