ETSC 585 - Construction Finance and Business Management


Description:
Introduce fundamental theories and applied methods of accounting, financial management of construction projects and companies. Specific topics include construction accounting, financial management, cash flow analysis, financial planning, risk analysis, and budget forecasting.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: CMGT 485 or instructor permission.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explain the concepts, terminology, and rationale behind earned value; cost and schedule management; labor burden, general overhead, and profit determination; and accounting applications related to construction.
  • Create the following types of documentations: balance sheets, income statements, cost control reports, and cash flow projections.
  • Plan, organize, manage, control, and document construction accounting and cash flow activities.
  • Create a financial analysis strategic evaluation of a construction company.
  • Solve financial problems related to engineering, business, and construction management.
  • Support leadership initiatives and criticize unethical practices in construction projects and business operations.
