ENG 512 - Introduction to English Graduate Study Description: Introduction to literary studies and research methods at the graduate level. Required of all MA English: Literary Studies and Teaching Specialization candidates.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Formulate questions and analysis appropriate to literary studies.
Demonstrate knowledge of scholarly research tools and skills necessary to explore and respond to questions in literary criticism.
Articulate and synthesize the arguments of literary critics whose work informs literary studies.
Write an extended critical paper that advances a scholarly thesis, utilizes a coherent theoretical approach, and integrates relevant literary criticism.
Cite and document scholarly research according to MLA conventions.
