EDU 561 - Methods and Models Instruction Description: Teaching methodologies for heterogeneous classroom settings. Differentiating instructional techniques to effectively accomplish specific learning goals for students’ diverse learning backgrounds and needs.
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: must be accepted in the Teacher Certification MAT Program. Taken concurrently with EDU 551 and (EDU 531 or EDSE 531).

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify research-based best instructional practices to support learning across contexts and learner backgrounds.
- Synthesize across instructional design and practice literatures to develop a holistic understanding of the specific strategies and techniques that work best for K-12 learners.
- Apply appropriate state and local learning standards across the instructional design process.
- Design learning activities grounded in psychological theory and philosophic background.
- Evaluate one’s reflective awareness of the role of the teacher in creating classroom culture, climate and learning for all students.
