EDF 567 - Contemporary Topics


Description:
Analyze contemporary educational policies and legal issues that impact teaching and learning. Explore realities of the classroom within a larger philosophical, historical, political, and sociological context.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: admission to the Master Teacher Program.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: List professional organizations and journals for professional development List community resources and services to foster student learning In­ter­pret and of­fer in­sights into the stakeholders’ concerns that frame local schooling practice.  Cri­tique re­cent ex­am­ples of re­search on teach­ing and school­ing  Identify and apply general principles of law, both statutory and common, as they apply to Washington state schools. Interns will evaluate their schools’ and/or their school divisions’ application of education law to specific situations. Link the theory of texts with the lived reality of students in their schools and communities
