EDF 567 - Contemporary Topics Description: Analyze contemporary educational policies and legal issues that impact teaching and learning. Explore realities of the classroom within a larger philosophical, historical, political, and sociological context.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: admission to the Master Teacher Program.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
List professional organizations and journals for professional development
List community resources and services to foster student learning
Interpret and offer insights into the stakeholders’ concerns that frame local schooling practice.
Critique recent examples of research on teaching and schooling
Identify and apply general principles of law, both statutory and common, as they apply to Washington state schools.
Interns will evaluate their schools’ and/or their school divisions’ application of education law to specific situations.
Link the theory of texts with the lived reality of students in their schools and communities
