EDF 507 - Studies and Problems in Intercultural Education


Description:
Research topics of diversity, equity, and inclusivity. Awareness and analysis of efforts in creating a school climate in multicultural settings.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: admission to the Master Teacher Program.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: Identify community assets and explain that cultures other than one’s own have something to teach us. Develop and assess personal awareness of self in social groups and systems of oppression and its impact on leadership ability to facilitate learning environments in intercultural education. Examine and summarize theories of social justice, social oppression and liberation. Develop knowledge of conceptual foundations and create curriculum rooted in culturally-responsive education. Formulate action plan that resists and critiques oppression and supports social change.
