Description:
Course emphasizes the purpose and benefits of educational games in instructional settings. Experience in critiquing, selecting, planning and developing games as an instructional tool. Participants will be responsible for any expense involved in game preparation. (Put on reserve 9/16/24, will go inactive 8/24/27)

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: graduate standing or one year of teaching experience

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: Distinguish games from simulations and other learning environments including virtual learning environments Analyze instructional needs and create a learning game or simulation design. Identify relationships among theories of learning and play Develop critical perspectives on learning, interactive media, and games Develop an understanding of basic theories of learning and motivation
