BIOL 546 - Endocrinology

Description:
The study of the role of hormonal signaling in the regulation of physiological systems. The course will focus on endocrine function and diseases in mammals. Three hours lecture. BIOL 446 and BIOL 546 are layered courses; students may not receive credit for both.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Describe the cellular signaling pathways for the synthesis and release of hormones.
Evaluate the effects and role of hormones of different physiological processes (ie reproductive system).
Apply basic hormonal concepts and interpret experimental data presented in primary literature articles
Examine and analyze clinical findings to diagnose underlying diseases in the endocrine system
For 5XX students: Summarize current literature findings and complete literature review on current topic in field
