Description:
This course prepares the EMS professional for a position in administration in either the fire or EMS transport field including the duties of medical training, accreditation, certification requirements and functioning in a paramilitary style department. By department permission.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Identify and explain the current challenges faced by the U.S. health care delivery system and how health policy seeks to address these challenges
Classify the organizational structure and operations of health care systems, including transactions between patients, physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers, as well as related laws and regulations
Identify and explain the major concepts in health care finance as well as related financial management tools in the context of various health care delivery settings
Develop a strategic plan by applying data and statistical methods to the evaluation of the health of populations, including related decision-making and outcomes measures
Develop a strategic planning and marketing concept in the context of health care organizations
Identify and explain contemporary ethical and legal issues in health care
Understand critical management theory, fundamental economic principles, human resource management, and the art of negotiations
