EMS 483 - EMS Administration in Action Description: This course prepares the EMS professional for a position in administration in either the fire or EMS transport field including the duties of medical training, accreditation, certification requirements and functioning in a paramilitary style department. By department permission.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify and explain the current challenges faced by the U.S. health care delivery system and how health policy seeks to address these challenges
- Classify the organizational structure and operations of health care systems, including transactions between patients, physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers, as well as related laws and regulations
- Identify and explain the major concepts in health care finance as well as related financial management tools in the context of various health care delivery settings
- Develop a strategic plan by applying data and statistical methods to the evaluation of the health of populations, including related decision-making and outcomes measures
- Develop a strategic planning and marketing concept in the context of health care organizations
- Identify and explain contemporary ethical and legal issues in health care
- Understand critical management theory, fundamental economic principles, human resource management, and the art of negotiations
