EMS 476 - Critical Care Flight Paramedicine Prep Course Description: This comprehensive paramedicine course covers critical care treatments and scenarios in 14 major topic areas and prepares students for taking more advanced critical care certification tests (FP-c and CCT exams) for critical care transports. Permission of department.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: admission to the EMS Paramedicine major.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate and interpret the foundational skills of Arterial Blood Gases.
- Demonstrate the proper knowledge and skills of advanced airway management.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret specific traumatic injuries, understanding pathology and treatments and assess burn management
- Apply the advanced concepts of pharmacology, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacokinetics of common pre-hospital medications.
- Evaluate and initiate personal protective measures, ventilation/perfusion mismatch, interpreting chest x-rays and common respiratory diseases and their treatments.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret ventilator readings and adjust settings based on pathology.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret specific environmental and toxicological emergencies, understanding the pathology and treatments.
