Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze and critique an argument, evaluating its rhetorical effectiveness and identifying its underlying assumptions
- Isolate and evaluate the validity of the central question(s) and perspective(s) of different kinds of sources
- Organize and synthesize evidence to support an original argument
- Originate basic research proposals that involve methods applicable to interdiciplinary research
- Identify appropriate primary, secondary, and tertiary materials in the library and online, and be familiar with using finding aids.
- Cite and document sources precisely and effectively
