CDFS 485 - Applied Maternal and Child Health Research, Leadership, and Practice Description: Capstone course of the maternal and child health certificate that involves an applied research, leadership, or practice project aimed at addressing health disparities among rural, low-resource, minority, or other underserved populations. CDFS 485 and PUBH 485 are cross-listed; students may not receive credit for both.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: CDFS 285 or PUBH 285 with grade of C or higher.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Design an applied project using theory and empirical literature to address a known health disparity.
- Articulate a strong rationale, design, and evaluation plan for maternal and child health prevention and intervention programs and/or policies.
- Integrate interdisciplinary perspectives to explain the antecedents and consequences of an issue in maternal and child health.
- Apply ethical decision-making and leadership values to team-based, interprofessional MCH efforts, to include individuals and families representative of the populations those efforts are intended to serve.
- Summarize the contributions of different professions and team members to cooperative and collaborative MCH efforts.
