GEOL 306 - Communicating Geoscience (Put on reserve 9/16/24, will go inactive 8/24/27) Description: Exploration of effective communication skills in the geosciences. Includes readings from the primary and popular literature, writing, making figures, and oral presentation. Emphasis on peer review and revision. (Put on reserve 9/16/24, will go inactive 8/24/27)
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: GEOL 101 or SCED 102 and (either GEOL 201 or GEOL 202 or GEOL 203), and Academic Writing II.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Critically read and evaluate journal articles from the primary literature.
- Cite sources appropriately and effectively in written and oral presentations.
- Give a professional oral presentation to an audience of their peers.
- Write a professional review paper of a topic relevant to the discipline, including incorporating comments from peer reviews and feedback.
- Choose or develop appropriate graphs and figures
- Provide constructive feedback to their peers on their written and oral communication.
