GEOL 489 - Geologic Field Methods Description: Capstone experience for students in the Geological Sciences. Students collect and analyze field-based data, and synthesize knowledge of geologic processes to develop interpretations through maps, cross-sections, and reports. Includes summer field work and fees. Permission of instructor.
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: GEOL 210 and GEOL 346 and GEOL 360.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Design a strategy to collect data in order to answer a geologic question.
- Collect accurate and sufficient data in the field and/or in the lab and record these using disciplinary conventions.
- Synthesize geologic data and integrate with core concepts and skills into a cohesive spatial and temporal scientific interpretation.
- Develop an argument that is consistent with available evidence and uncertainty.
- Communicate clearly in written, oral, and visual formats with discipline-specific terminology.
- Work effectively independently and collaboratively.
