CDFS 433 - Family Life Education


Description:
The broad objectives, trends, methods and materials of family life education programs in various settings. CDFS 433 and CDFS 533 are layered courses; students may not receive credit for both. Formerly FCL/FS 433, students may not receive credit for both. 

Prerequisites:
Prerequisites: CDFS 101 and CDFS 234 and CDFS 235, and admittance to a child development and family science major.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Define FLE, where it is practiced, and the major issues in FLE.
  • Explain the content areas involved in becoming a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) as determined by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR).
  • Assess CWU and Ellensburg community needs.
  • Identify and explain one family life issue that meets a family life education need.
  • Evaluate a family life education curriculum for children or youth.
