ENG 335 - Women’s Literature Description: Examines women’s literature in light of contemporary feminist literary theories. ENG 335 and WGSS 335 are cross-listed courses; students may not receive credit for both. This course satisfies CWU’s ADI graduation requirement.
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: sophomore standing or above and Academic Writing II with a grade of C- or higher.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define key concepts in relation to the study of Antiracism, Diversity, and Inclusivity including antiracism, racism, race, ethnicity, discrimination, privilege, diversity, equity, inclusivity, and intersectionality.
- Analyze the role of race, racism, and antiracism in the United States.
- Describe intersections between race and ethnicity and other minoritized identities.
- Explain systematic and structural mechanisms that perpetuate both privilege and inequities.
- Compare and contrast your own core values, assumptions, and biases with those held by other individuals, cultures, or societies.
- Analyze individual texts and the category of “women’s literature” through the framework of gender studies, particularly intersectional feminism.
- Interpret how texts depict, support, and/or contest dominant gender ideologies within specific cultural contexts.
- Explain how texts represent a diversity of ways of being a woman, including in relationship to race, class, sexuality, cisgender & transgender identities, and/or disability.
