ENG 333 - Asian American Literature and Cultures Description: Study of literature, writing, and other creative expression by Asian Americans and Asians in North America. ENG 333 and WGSS 333 are cross-listed courses; students may not receive credit for both. This course satisfies CWU’s ADI graduation requirement.
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: sophomore standing or higher and completion of an Academic Writing II course with a grade of C- or higher.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Evaluate the socio-political and cultural history out of which Asian North American writers wrote, and write, their works.
- Articulate recurring themes in Asian American texts relating to historical as well as cultural and societal issues, such as family, migration and exile, race, gender, disability, class, nationhood, and citizenship.
- Analyze the influence of global cultures and history on modern Asian American writers and texts.
- Define key concepts in relation to the study of Antiracism, Diversity, and Inclusivity including antiracism, racism, race, ethnicity, discrimination, privilege, diversity, equity, inclusivity, and intersectionality.
- Analyze the role of race, racism, and antiracism in the United States.
- Describe intersections between race and ethnicity and other minoritized identities.
- Explain systematic and structural mechanisms that perpetuate both privilege and inequities.
- Compare and contrast your own core values, assumptions, and biases with those held by other individuals, cultures, or societies.
