ECON 352 - Managerial Economics


Description:
Application of microeconomic theories to managerial decisions and planning, using case studies, business articles, podcasts, and quantitative problems.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisites: ECON 202 and either BUS 221 or MATH 211.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • evaluate and analyze a firm’s pricing and production decisions in various economic market types using marginal analysis;
  • describe ethical concerns both for the consumer and the firm and discuss the role of government regulation in the corporate world;
  • describe and explain various behavioral biases and risk preferences, and analyze how these biases may affect managerial decision-making and impact the workplace; and
  • analyze the implications of modern-day workplace issues (e.g., hybrid work, unions, the rise of Big Data and AI, DEI concerns, etc.) on firm productivity, culture, and outcomes, using economic tools and insights from psychology.
