COM 489 - Portfolio Assessment Description: End-of-program assessment activities. Preparation, presentation, and evaluation of a professional portfolio of work produced during the major.
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: senior standing; admission to a Department of Communication’s major program; and COM 470 if a Public Relations Major. Co-Requisites: COM 444 if a Journalism Major; COM 485 if a Communication Major.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- assess their own progress toward the learning goals of their major program at the Department of Communication,
- use clear communication strategies and techniques in oral and/or written form to examine the development of their expertise in their major,
- demonstrate understanding of the discipline of their major through the integration of course work representing skills and knowledge related to their major,
- construct a portfolio that synthesizes their knowledge and skills learned from their major to prepare for their future academic or professional paths,
- develop documents appropriate for their career goals, and
- reflect upon their experience as a student in their major in the Department of Communication.
