COM 350 - Persuasion and Culture Description: Role of persuasion in society, elements of human motivation, techniques, and appeals of the persuader.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: admission to either the communication, public relations, or journalism major.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify persuasive appeals found in multiple forms of communication, including advertising, public relations campaigns, and public speeches.
- Illustrate and apply various ethical criteria to persuasion strategies and campaigns.
- Critically analyze persuasive messages.
- Critique the persuasive tactics of public speakers through study of cultural themes, evidence, emotion, and credibility.
- Craft persuasive oral messages.
