Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Illustrate the theoretical and methodological processes necessary for producing rigorous research on traditional and emerging media.
- Explain the difference between qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and illustrate the different research methods used to study media.
- Compare and contrast traditional and new media research tools and develop a critical approach to the use and misuse of these methods and/or technologies.
- Examine the main research questions investigated to understand evolving trends in media production, consumption, and effects.
- Originate basic research proposals that involve methods applicable to traditional and new media.
