AVM 260 - Aviation History


Description:
This course studies the major developments in the history of flight from its origins to the present. The influence of aviation on society’s economic and social structure will be examined. Formerly AVP 332; students may not receive credit for both.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Describe the political, economic, and social changes brought about by the advent and evolution of air transportation.
  • Be familiar with and demonstrate an understanding of important aircraft, influential persons, and seminal events in aviation history.
  • Analyze an aviation event, person, or aircraft and determine what distinguished them/it from other events, person, or aircraft of the time.
  • Recognize, understand, and summarize the contributions of women, people of color, LGBT+ persons, and other underrepresented minorities to the development of aviation.
