Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

recognize major works of art by identifying cultures, periods, national origins, titles and/or subject matter, and their significance to the history of art,
describe the formal and symbolic elements of various works of art,
discuss how works of art express the ideals and values of their respective civilizations and historical periods,
describe basic developments in the history of art before 1400, and
use the terminology of art history.
