ANTH 414 - Osteobiographical Analysis Description: The course is an in-depth and critical analysis of various techniques pertaining to forensic anthropology, osteology, and archaeology. Students will plan, manage, and conduct forensic skeletal analysis of a skeletal project. Findings will be presented. May be repeated for up to 12 credits. Meets anthropology subfield Biological Anthropology (B).
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: ANTH 110, ANTH 310, ANTH 315, and permission of the instructor.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate how laboratory investigation is undertaken, including retrodocumentation.
- Critically evaluate osteological projects with respect to the suitability of the methods employed.
- Be familiar with the standards of an osteobiographical presentation including Daubert criteria for giving evidence in court.
- Develop more advanced skills in methods to assess the biological profile, as well as trauma, taphonomy, and pathology.
- Critically analyze and discuss the fate of postmortem remains in light of the manner/cause of death as well as the disposal environment.
- Apply standard procedure when working on a project and filing out the appropriate documentation.
