TH 363 - Theatre History I Description: Utilizing theories of theatre historiography, performance studies, and performance texts, this class examines the origins of world theatre up until 1500.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: TH 107.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define the process of theatre historiography and related critical questions
- Interrogate history as a critical/cultural/political engagement rather than a fixed set of facts
- Connect knowledge of texts, genres, and periods covered in class to specific performance texts
- Discuss the relationship between historical performance texts and contemporary creative processes
- Critically evaluate primary texts, plays, and secondary literature relating to the practice of theatre arts as it pertains to theatre history and historiography.
