Description:
Utilizing theories of theatre historiography, performance studies, and performance texts, this class examines the origins of world theatre up until 1500.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: TH 107.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Define the process of theatre historiography and related critical questions
Interrogate history as a critical/cultural/political engagement rather than a fixed set of facts
Connect knowledge of texts, genres, and periods covered in class to specific performance texts
Discuss the relationship between historical performance texts and contemporary creative processes
Critically evaluate primary texts, plays, and secondary literature relating to the practice of theatre arts as it pertains to theatre history and historiography.
