Physics Major, BS


Those interested in receiving an advanced degree in physics or engineering may choose the bachelor of science degree in physics. The bachelor of science degree is designed for individuals planning careers in physics and related technical fields or in areas where knowledge of basic scientific principles is necessary. Incoming first-year students prepared to take calculus their first quarter at CWU should be able to complete the bachelor of science degree in four years.

Physics Program Learner Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge base of the major areas of physics and related disciplines;
  • perform experimental, computational, and analytical techniques in solving physics and physics-related problems;
  • apply content knowledge and skills from physics and related disciplines in a mentored undergraduate research project;
  • communicate scientific ideas effectively; and
  • promote scientific literacy to the broader community.
