Political Science Major, BA (47 credits) (62 credits)

Students may choose either a 47-credit major or a 62-credit major. Those who have a second major or who have a minor in another discipline may opt for the 47-credit major.
Program Requirements
Students must earn a grade of C- or higher in order for that course to count in their political science major.
Political Science Honors
Political science majors will qualify for honors at graduation with an overall GPA of 3.00 and a GPA of 3.50 in all political science courses.
Program Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- identify and explain the inherent structure of the field of political science (i.e., correctly classify the four sub-fields of American politics, comparative politics, international relations, and political theory);
- define and explain core concepts and facts in each of the four sub-fields of political science (American politics, comparative politics, international relations, and political theory);
- demonstrate analytical skills and techniques used in the discipline by applying them in political science research; and
- demonstrate familiarity and competence with scholarly resources and employ them to construct an analytical research project in the discipline.
