History Program Learner Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • identify and describe issues and events in history;
  • analyze primary and/or secondary sources;
  • evaluate arguments and/or evidence related to history (critical thinking);
  • develop valid evidence-based arguments related to history;
  • write effectively, constructing responses and essays that use correct grammar, effective sentence structure, and appropriate and complex language; and
  • explain cultural differences and diverse perspectives.

World Civilization


Upper-Division Credits: 39


  • Credits: (5) (Students must earn a minimum grade of C as a major requirement)
  • Credits: (4) (Students must earn a minimum grade of C as a major requirement)
  • Upper-division United States History Credits: (5)
  • Upper-division Elective Credits: (25)
    The elective credits must include at least 5 credits each from four of the following fields: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, World/Transcontinental
