ASP 420 - Universal Design for Learning


Description:
Design inclusive curriculum to address common challenges for students of different physical, emotional, and cognitive ability. Analyze instruction for barriers to engagement and identity. Apply policies to promote diversity and equity. ASP 420 and ASP 520 are layered courses; students may not receive credit for both.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: successful completion of an Academic Writing I course.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Apply principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to instructional design and curriculum creation.
  • Articulate the differences between Universal Design for Learning and individualized accommodations.
  • Interpret educational policy and apply it to course design.
  • Outline how UDL can support multiple dimensions of diversity
  • Read, write, and communicate professionally
