CMGT 481A - Construction Management Capstone I


Description:
Students work in teams to complete and present a general or heavy civil cost estimate, schedule, site mobilization plan, risk analysis, and safety plan for a construction project. One hour lecture and two hours of lab. Permission by instructor.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisite: CMGT 447.

Credits: (2)

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Create construction project cost estimates for either a general or heavy civil project.
  • Create a construction project plan and schedule for an appropriately sized commercial building or heavy civil project using a complete set of construction contract documents.
  • Create an oral presentation appropriate to the construction discipline using a construction project proposal to a panel of industry experts.  The presentation will summarize the construction estimate, planned work schedule, construction sequence, safety plan, risk management analysis, and site mobilization plan for the project.
  • Create a construction project safety plan.
  • Understand construction management skills as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. (ACCE SLO #9).
