Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Analyze and critique an argument, evaluating its rhetorical effectiveness and identifying its underlying assumptions
Isolate and evaluate the validity of the central question(s) and perspective(s) of different kinds of sources
Organize and synthesize evidence to support an original argument
Originate basic research proposals that involve methods applicable to interdiciplinary research
Identify appropriate primary, secondary, and tertiary materials in the library and online, and be familiar with using finding aids.
Cite and document sources precisely and effectively
