ASP 325 - Universal Design (Put on reserve by department 9/16/23; will go inactive 8/24/26) Description: Apply universal design principles and ADA standards to analyze barriers to accessibility and propose practical design solutions for full participation of persons of all abilities in a variety of everyday environments. Prerequisites: Prerequisite: Completion of Gen Ed Academic Writing I or equivalent with a grade of C- or higher.

Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify environmental, social, and cultural barriers to full participation by people of all abilities.
- Recognize principles of universal design and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards in real world contexts.
- Analyze the usability of environments and products by people of all abilities according to a universal design framework and ADA standards.
- Propose practical design solutions based on universal design principles and ADA standards for access issues in a variety of environments.
- Identify agents responsible for implementing and maintaining accessible environments and programs.
- Explain the advantage for individuals and society of minimizing barriers by implementing principles of universal design to different audiences with different motives (e.g., social justice and risk management).
- Communicate professionally and accessibly.
