HUM 301 - Introduction to Digital Humanities


Description:
This course provides students with an introduction into the theories, arguments, practices, methods, tools, and conversations that frame the Digital Humanities. Students will learn what digital humanists do and why they do it.

Prerequisites:
Prerequisites: Academic Writing I and Academic Writing II.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Examine, analyze, and investigate the history and theoretical development of the digital humanities.
  • State and outline an understanding of digital humanities as an interdisciplinary field of study that encompasses a range of disciplines and fields.
  • Apply and modify a research interest to the digital humanities using DH theories and practices.
  • Invent, design, collaborate, compose, and revise digital humanities projects.
  • Describe and discuss how to use a variety of “digital” tools for DH projects.
