EXSC 460 - Muscle Physiology

Description:
To provide content on the cellular and systems physiology of skeletal muscle as well as present research-based findings of how various stimuli (exercise, aging, inactivity) influence skeletal muscle function and adaptation.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Arrange and synthesize detailed components of the structure, composition and biochemical properties of muscle tissue
Formulate and organize the differences between skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscle fiber types
Evaluate factors that affect skeletal and cardiac muscle adaptation to a variety of stimuli
Evaluate and synthesize the muscular molecular environment of the heterogeneity of metabolic and structural changes that can occur in skeletal muscle
