HIST 548 - History of LatinXs in the Pacific Northwest Description: Traces the long history of the Chicanx and Latinx community in the Pacific Northwest, including local social movements, labor development, demographic shift, and internal and external migration to the region after World War II. HIST 448 and 548 are layered courses, cross-listed with LLAS 448; students may only receive credit for one.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: graduate standing or instructor permission.

Learner Outcomes: Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze significant issues, trends and developments in the history of Latinxs in the Pacific Northwest.
- Demonstrate knowledge that history is not simply the recitation of names and dates, but is a fluid subject where interpretations are constantly changing as a result of different methods or patterns of analysis.
- Analyze and synthesize primary and secondary sources in order to put forward well-supported arguments.
- Design and create a clearly-written and clearly-presented argument, including a thesis and sufficient and well-used supporting evidence.
- Identify differing explanations of historical change and the connections between cause and effect in the discipline of history.
- Analyze the role of Latinx people living in the Pacific Northwest
- Analyze the historiography regarding transnational approaches to history and how those approaches apply to the histories of Latinx people in the Pacific Northwest (HIST 548 only)
