ASL 530 - Research Methods in the American Sign Language Field


Description:
Students will learn research methods, ethics, and survey the research literature on effective instruction approaches; develop a research proposal related to the American Sign Language instruction field.

Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Analyze concepts, language, methods, and applications of research
  • Develop the competence to formulate explicit research questions
  • Show the ability to outline an appropriate research design to respond research questions and contribute to generalizable knowledge
  • Organize a specific area of interest and a narrowly focused topic of study
  • Propose a study that includes literature, at least three research questions, design, and data collection.
