Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define and discuss research.
- Distinguish the unique characteristics of research in education and the social sciences.
- Develop skills in evaluating published research.
- Explore ethical, legal, and political issues involved in conducting and reporting research and utilizing research findings.
- Formulate the steps in the research process.
- Analyze the components of a well-organized research plan/proposal
- Compare various procedures for selecting a research sample.
- Judge and evaluate criteria for developing/selecting data collection instruments.
- Differentiate among the types of research, based on purpose and method.
- Select appropriate statistical procedures for specific research problems.
