Learner Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Examine the historical and philosophical foundations of Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
- Evaluate historical influences on the development of programs in Family and Consumer Sciences Education in Cooperative Extension Service, public schools, and higher education settings.
- Analyze past and current legislation that supports Family and Consumer Sciences Education programs in Cooperative Extension Service, public schools, and higher education.
- Articulate the mission and interdisciplinary focus of the Family and Consumer Sciences Education profession.
- Examine the role of FCS in the public school curriculum.
- Analyze current issues and their impact on Family and Consumer Sciences programs in Cooperative Extension Service, public schools, and higher education.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ethical professional practice.
- Develop a personal philosophy of the Family and Consumer Sciences Education profession.
